Dinamalar, a Tamil daily was founded by T. V. Ramasubbaiyer in 1951. It began in Trivandrum but soon had editions from Chennai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Vellore, Erode, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Salem and Pondicherry. In keeping with the changing times, it launched many supplements such as Computer Malar, Siruvarmalar (for children on Fridays), Varamalar (Sunday entertainment supplement). Apart from these, it also publishes a monthly add-on “Fountain Ink” in English which targets students. Hence it has something for all sections of readers which makes it an attractive proposition for advertisers. As it reaches all districts and towns of Tamil Nadu, this vernacular daily is apt for the advertisers who are looking for a wide reach.
